From the moment I began my law degree it felt like I had begun a race that I was not equipped to run. The only thing I did know was that competition in all forms was rife throughout a law degree and beyond. However, in 8 episodes, the ‘Your job of choice after law school’ [work] manages to capture and tame all that makes job hunting, job applications, interviews, and the like, daunting and into something doable! With each episode tackling a specific hurdle in the post-university job hunt, the [work] aids us students in characterising and confronting all the uncertainties that we stand to encounter, in a methodical and chronological order.
This [work] offers a manual to be referred to when any and all issues arise and streamlines the process into something easier to understand and something that may be somewhat perfected. It incorporates and identifies pinnacle aspects that are common considerations, those that are only subconscious considerations and, better yet, those never even thought of from a student perspective. These extremely practical and encouraging insights have provided me with guidance and have solidified importance in things that were once secondary thoughts or mere uncertainties. Not only has it provided me with a greater understanding of the job process, through the thought-provoking content, I feel more aware of my own strengths, desires and motivations that are crucial in driving all other facets of life after university.
I am confident that this [work] will be of the utmost value in the eyes of students with vast amounts of ambition and drive, those lacking foresight and a feeling of control over their future (like me!), and of every student in between! This [work] reveals that there are so many variables to consider and to only fuss over those things we have control over and a personal ability to improve or change.
There is a copious amount of wisdom woven throughout this [work] in a captivating way that perpetuates that although entering the legal industry is daunting, it is not something to be feared.
