In my opinion, this guide is useful for anyone seeking a job in the legal field…

I was very eager to read the transcript for ‘Your Job of Choice After Law School’ as I knew it would be an invaluable resource as a student preparing to apply for clerkships. It is an incredibly thorough, yet concise resource clearly based on the extensive experience of the author. In my opinion, this guide is useful for anyone seeking a job in the legal field, but especially for students such as myself who are currently applying for clerkships, which is for many our first taste of life in the law.

The document quickly familiarises readers with “the skills, insights and techniques” required to break down power imbalances between us and our law firms of choice and succeed at every stage of the application process.

Adversely to what I imagine is the approach of many students applying for clerkships, this guide helpfully states the importance of targeting specific types of firms and practice areas. This method enables the reader to apply meaningfully, rather than through adopting a scattergun approach and submitting a range of applications with quantity over quality in mind.

This guide encourages applicants to be passionate in their endeavours but teaches how to be educated in that passion to ensure objectives are pursued that are of genuine interest to the applicant. The overall purpose of this guide is achieved; to ensure that we settle in a job that fits our focus and find a firm that works for us as much as we work for the firm.
